About District
Jamtara district is a new district created by dividing the district of Dumka. It is surrounded by Deoghar district in the north, Dumka and West Bengal in the east, Dhanbad in the south and West Bengal and Giridih in the west. Its total area is 1,811 sq km and the population is 7,91,042 (according to the Census of India, 2011). In this district there is a mandatory Jamtara and six blocks - Kundhit, Nala, Jamtara, Narayanpur, Karmatand and Fatehpur. This district is situated in the lower part of Chhotanagpur plateau and its latitude and longitude are pre-230-10 'to 240 to 5' and 860-30 'to 870-15' respectively. The history of Jamtara district is not different from the history of Santhal Paragana. In 1855, Santhal Paragana was made by mixing parts of Bhagalpur and Birbhum districts. This entire region was called Jungle Terai in English on the assumption of conservative in 1765, which included present day Santhal Pargana, Hazaribagh, Munger and Bhagalpur district. Jamtara district is ranked 21st in the state of Jharkhand on the basis of population (7,91,042) on the basis of 19th and area (1811sq.km.) The district's economy mainly depends on agriculture and related work. More than 64% of the total workers are engaged in the primary sector. Among the villages of the district, the largest area of the Sudakshikpur (Kundit block) is (1109.69 hectares) and the smallest area (1.56 hectares) of Sarodabarkak (Karmatand Vidyasagar block).
Climate
Due to being close to West Bengal and being near hill areas, its climate is slightly different from the rest of the state. There is an average of 1500 mm rainfall per year in which the maximum rainfall occurs during the rainy season. During the winter season the temperature is between 10 to 16 centigrade, while during the summer season it is between 22 to 40 centigrade.
